Vice President Joe Biden was in Philadelphia yesterday afternoon touting President Obama’s jobs plan, which Senate Democrats are now attempting to pass piece by piece. The first measure they plan to bring to a vote is a bill that would spend $35 billion “to put teachers and first-responders back to work,” paid for by increasing taxes on “millionaires and billionaires.” Republicans have criticized the proposal as a rehash of the failed stimulus that did not deliver on promises to “put people back to work,” and have argued that “temporary” solutions are not the answer.
