Biden’s Closing Message: ‘No More [Oil] Drilling. . . . I Haven’t Formed Any New Drilling’
The number one concern of voters heading into the midterms is rising costs, but Biden addressed this poorly on Sunday.
The number one concern of voters heading into the midterms is rising costs, so this seems like a poor message ad-libbed by President Biden on Sunday:
Biden to what is presumably a climate protester in the audience:

At a rally on Sunday, someone in the crowd holding a sign that read “5 more years of drilling is a lose lose!” shouted a question to US President Biden. He responded “no more [oil] drilling”.

On Saturday, West Virginia Democratic senator Joe Manchin blasted what he described as Biden’s “offensive and disgusting” comment on Friday that, “We’re gonna be shutting these plants down all across America, and having wind and solar.”
The White House press secretary responded to Manchin on Saturday by saying that Biden’s words had been “twisted,” but her statement did more to affirm Manchin’s interpretation than refute it. She said that Biden was merely commenting on the “fact” that America is going through an energy transition:
Our goal as a nation is to combat climate change and increase our energy security by producing clean and efficient American energy.

He is determined to make sure that this transition helps all Americans in all parts of the country, with more jobs and better opportunities; it’s a commitment he has advanced since Day One. No one will be left behind.

“America is once again in the midst of an energy transition. Our goal as a nation is to combat climate change and increase our energy security by producing clean and efficient American energy,” Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement. “No one will be left behind.” Translation: As a result of government policies to fight climate change, coal plants will shut down, but don’t worry, because coal workers will find new jobs in other sectors.
