Biden’s Useless Border Posturing

As Rich says on today’s Editors, Biden just can’t ignore the border anymore. Unfortunately, the stance he’s now taking is useless.

Michael is quick to point out that, when it comes to Biden’s wording about illegal immigrants, “We’re not actually following up on court dates. We’re not actually expelling people who fail to meet these criteria. I just think it’s just a new packaging for negligence, and Republicans need to call it out for what it is. . . . Journalists need to also get out there and take the pictures of the planes flying people around or people coming through customs who have no right to be here . . . to expose the system for what it is.”

Charlie presses home the fact that Biden’s actions in the catastrophe are completely unacceptable: “It’s a dereliction of duty. He took an oath to uphold the Constitution, and we have immigration laws when he hasn’t wanted to enforce them, and now he has at least felt a need to be seen to address the issue or pretend to.” Beyond the constitutional point, he reminds us that there will be a breaking point with this. “It seems to me that this is unsustainable for Biden because the numbers and the images are so dramatic now that there’s not really a solid counter-argument that he can offer.”
