Bill Clinton: Obama Should Honor His ‘You Can Keep Your Plan’ Promise

Bill Clinton is now the biggest Democratic name to call on President Obama to keep his promise that people could keep their insurance plans under health-care reform.

“I personally believe, even if it means a change to the law, the president should honor the commitment the federal government made to those people and let them keep what they got,” Clinton said. The former president said young people on the individual market were the main group to be affected by the misleading promise, noting a story of someone he recently met who had their plan canceled.

A number of Democratic and Republican members of Congress have introduced plans to extend the grandfathering provisions in the Affordable Care Act so more Americans can keep their existing plans.
