I just got this email. Anybody out there know where I can read up more on this. Sounds interesting, even plausible in certain aspects. But my guess is there’s a lot more to the story, and ANARCHY magazine doesn’t sound peer-reviewed.
A few years ago, I saw an interesting article in ANARCHY magazine, about the rise of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1920s.
The point of the article was that the Klan was not just, or even, for many members, primarily a white-supremacy vehicle.
In some areas, Klan lodges functioned as covert union locals.
A poll by the Klan’s national magazine showed that most of the members saw nationalizing the railroads and banks as very important goals, more important than the race-purity ideology of the Klan’s nominal leaders.
The Socialist Mayor of Milwaukee was a Klan member!
