The recent McCain ad where he makes fun of Obama’s celebrity status, happens to feature a picture of Britney Spears to illustrate its point about the vacuousness of fame for fame’s sake. Of course, here’s the liberal blogger reaction:
I note with interest today, John McCain’s new tactic of associating Barack Obama with oversexed and/or promiscuous young white women.
That’s from TPM’s Josh Marshall who’s usually above this sort of thing, so I note with interest his new tactic of baselessly crying “racism!” where none can be found. I’ll just quote from Ponnuru and Lowry’s recent NRODT story on what McCain needs to do to win:
Inevitably, the McCain campaign will be accused of racism (if it can happen to the Clintons, it certainly will happen to a Republican running against Obama). While McCain should, of course, not give gratuitous racial offense, he has to take an early and vocal stand against attempts to rule legitimate criticism of Obama out of bounds as race-baiting.
