Speaker of the House John Boehner confirmed Wednesday morning that he is considering pursuing a lawsuit against President Obama.
“The Constitution makes it clear that a president’s job is to faithfully execute the laws,” he said during a press conference. In his view, he continued, the president has not done so.
Boehner said that the Constitution outlines how the branches of government are meant to function. “When there’s conflicts like this between the legislative branch and the administration branch,” he said, “it’s in my view our responsibility to stand up for this institution in which we serve.”
When asked if this the lawsuit could lead to an impeachment proceeding, Boehner responded, “This is not about impeachment, this is about his faithfully executing the laws of our country.”
