Boehner: ‘It’s Not the Outcome I Wanted’

After last night’s “Plan B” debacle, Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor met with reporters this morning. “We didn’t have the votes to pass it,” Boehner said. “It’s not the outcome I wanted, but that was the will of the House.”

“We had a number of our members who just didn’t want to be perceived as raising taxes,” Boehner explained. “They weren’t taking that out on me.”

Boehner then urged Senate Democrats and President Barack Obama to make the next move. “We are prepared to come back if needed,” he said. “At some point, the United States Senate has to do something.”
