Speaker John Boehner explained this morning that he believes Congress should be judged by the number of laws it manages to repeal, not the amount of new legislation it passes. “We should not be judged by how many new laws we create,” he explained, “we ought to be judged on how many laws that we repeal. We’ve got more laws than the administration could ever enforce.”

Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer had asked the speaker how he felt about the fact that “any way you cut it, and whoever’s fault it is, you have presided over one of the least productive, and the most unpopular, Congresses in history.” Boehner explained that the legislative branch’s unpopularity derives from the fact that “we’re in a divided government,” and House Republicans are “fighting for what we believe in.”
