Boehner: WH’s Animosity for Netanyahu No Secret in D.C.

Why did House speaker John Boehner not mention his invitation to Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House? “Because I wanted to make sure that there was no interference,” the speaker told Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace.

“There’s no secret here in Washington about the animosity that this White House has for Prime Minister Netanyahu. And I, frankly, didn’t want them getting in the way and quashing what I thought was a real opportunity.”

Boehner said elsewhere in the interview that inviting Netanyahu was apposite, given the recent spate of Islamic terror attacks on Western targets. Israel’s prime minister, he said, is well-suited to to speak to the urgency of the threat of Islamic terror.
