Boehner Won’t Tangle With Obama’s Critics

On NBC’s Meet the Press this morning, House Speaker John Boehner did not wag his finger at Americans who believe that President Obama is a Muslim. “The American people have the right to think what they want to think,” he said. “It’s not my job to tell the American people what to think.”

Moderator David Gregory followed up, telling Boehner that his response seemed a little “fast and loose.” Boehner shot Gregory an incredulous glance. “It’s not my job to tell them,” he repeated. “There is a lot of information out there, people read a lot of things, but I’ve made clear what I think the facts are.”

As for himself, “I believe the president is a Christian,” Boehner said. “I’ll take him at his word.”
