Border Patrol Agent Wants the Death Penalty for Illegal Immigrants Who Murdered Fellow Agent

The murder of Border Patrol agent Javier Vega in the Rio Grande Valley has negatively impacted fellow agents, Border Patrol agent Albert Spratte, the sergeant-at-arms of the National Border Patrol Council Local 3307 in the Rio Grande Valley, tells National Review Online. Vega was shot and killed in front of his wife, two sons, and parents, while the family was on a fishing trip. The two men suspected of killing Vega in cold blood are illegal immigrants from Mexico.

“We’ll have to wait and see where the investigation leads, but hopefully the county will do the right thing and give these guys, if they’re convicted, the death penalty,” Spratte says. He says while he did not know Vega on a personal level, he knows fellow agents who have taken Vega’s death pretty hard.

Vega’s family has also been dealt a huge blow by the loss of their loved one. “My sweet baby. I failed you oh sweet child of mine,” Marie Vega, his mother, wrote on Facebook, as reported by the Daily Mail. “I was supposed to protect you and keep you safe. I failed to save your life. I wish a million times I had died and not you. You are my life, my heart was ripped out when I lost you. I will not rest until these worthless pieces of s*** are dead.”
