I have done a new Jaywalking, which includes a typical mixture: politics, foreign policy, Great American Names, etc. (One of the GANs this time is “Ha Ha Clinton-Dix.” The name belongs to a safety on the Washington Redskins.) (Speaking of names: They’re still the “Redskins,” right?) Well, what about music? I have some Callas this time. And “Amazing Grace” played on the erhu, a Chinese string instrument.
The podcast goes out with the great heavenly chorus from Mefistofele (Mephistopheles), by Boito. This opera contains both heavenly choruses and devilish ones. I am strictly heavenly on the podcast. But you know the expression “give the devil his due”? In that spirit, let me offer the Witches Sabbath from Mefistofele, in a production at the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca (Tuscany): here.
