The Federal Aviation Administration issued a Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) at 17:02 UTC (12:02 p.m. EST) that the airspace over the northern portion of Lake Michigan had a temporary flight restriction for purposes of national security. It would appear the NOTAM has since expired.
UPDATE – NOTAM over Lake Michigan has been called off.

Whatever the case, I report this to you aboard a Sunfish sailboat departing Sheboygan, Wis., on a beam reach, headed north from Sheboygan toward Door County. My armament includes a few bear traps attached to retirement balloons purchased from Piggly Wiggly and a Henry Big Boy Deluxe lever-action — also purchased at Piggly Wiggly.
