Brewer, Bachmann Reject Birtherism

Two conservative female politicians have now come out against birtherism.

This week Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer vetoed a bill that would have required presidential candidates to show proof of their birth in the United States by presenting a birth certificate or similar records, such as a baptismal certificate.

“It is something that I felt very, very uncomfortable with and I feel that it serves no purpose,” Brewer explained to Fox News host Greta Van Sustern in an interview last night.

Michele Bachmann also adopted an anti-birther position this week. After ABC’s George Stephanopoulos showed her Obama’s certificate of live birth this morning, she said “that should settle it” and commented that the nation should “move on.”

“That is not the main issue facing the United States right now,” Bachmann added.
