The Brexit Hysterics

Both the economic and geopolitical fallout from Brexit is being exaggerated, and can still be minimized if people make sensible decisions going forward. If the U.S. and the EU don’t want to see the upsurge in protectionism that Brexit foes fear, for example, they should rush to make trade deals with the United Kingdom. But behaving constructively, I write, will mean taking a break from excoriating the voters of the U.K.

As if to prove that the EU is at its heart undemocratic, some Remainers are now urging Parliament to ignore the result of the referendum. These fans of the EU are living in a fantasy world rather than making practical decisions; angrily rejecting people for whom they have little understanding and less sympathy; throwing a tantrum. They are, in short, the mirror image of the caricature they have created for what Brexiteers are like.
