Brit Marriage

In this article from the Telegraph, Lady Hale, Britain’s senior woman

judge argues for legal gay marriage–and for extending the benefits of

marriage to single people who bring up other people’s children, or who care

for the aged.

This is tantamount to a proposal for the abolition of marriage and its

replacement by a series of infinitely flexible relationship

contracts. Such a system would be totally destructive of the notion that

marriage holds mothers and fathers together for the sake of their

children. This prominent sponsor of British same-sex marriage is obviously

a living refutation of the “conservative case” for gay marriage. Gay

marriage, for her, is very evidently a mere prelude to the eventual

abolition of marriage itself.
