British MP Declares City of Bradford an ‘Israel-Free Zone’

A British member of parliament has declared his district to be an “Israel-free zone.”

George Galloway, MP for Bradford West and the Respect Party leader, said at a Respect Party meeting that he wants his city to reject all Israeli goods, services, and academics.

“We have declared Bradford an Israel-free zone,” he said.

In fact, Galloway wants to bar Israelis themselves from Bradford. “We don’t even want any Israeli tourists to come to Bradford, if any of them had thought of doing so,” he told the activists.

“We reject this illegal, barbarous, savage state that calls itself Israel,” he said. “And you have to do the same.”

The Independent pointed out that Galloway has previously caused controversy with his anti-Israel comments, when last fall he walked out of an Oxford University debate explaining: “I don’t debate with Israelis.”
