Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski suggested that President Obama may just be too smart for the presidency, as evidenced by his lack of interest in engaging with lawmakers and political “theatricality.”
“What you’re saying is he’s too smart for the job,” Brzezinski posited after Double Down co-author John Heilemann explained that the president doesn’t enjoying the “schmoozing” element of politics. She later clarified that she was joking.
Later in the segment, Brzezinski asked about the story behind Clint Eastwood’s speech at the 2012 Republican National Convention, and Heilemann said that Eastwood’s invitation to be involved at the convention came out of a “starstruck” meeting Mitt Romney had with the actor. She contrasted Romney’s excitement over Eastwood with Obama’s “above it all” attitude.
