In my January Diary I had a paragraph about bullying at my son’s school, and

how the authorities punish everyone involved in an “incident” equally,

without any regard to the circumstances or histories involved. Well, here’s

a very tragic instance from Alaska.

Memo to schoolteachers (I was one myself, briefly): You know who these kids

are, and you know they need your help and support. For God’s sake, try to

do better than this poor kid’s teachers did.
