Bunning Could Budge

Sen. Jim Bunning (R., Ky.) is reportedly working on a deal with Senate Democrats that would allow a $10 billion grab-bag bill of extenders to reach a vote. The deal could be finalized as soon as today, and would likely involve two votes — one on the measure itself and another on an amendment that would force Congress to pay for the bill with spending cuts elsewhere. The second measure is widely expected to fail.

UPDATE: Rumors of a deal were perhaps premature, as Roll Call reports Democrats could force Bunning into an real-live, floor-holding filibuster in an overnight marathon session.
