I’m a Burkean advocate of gay marriage. But I have to admit that your
position supporting civil unions and (provisionally?) opposing gay
marriage may be closer to what Burke himself, put in our time and place
with our knowledge of the world, might have been able to support.
Eventually I’m going to get around to writing an extended article on
Burkean thought and gay marriage and yours are among the views I’m going
to have to grapple with.
