The Butlerian Jihad

I’m reading it. Oh, ifyou don’t know what I’m talking about, you are simply not a sci-fi nerd of any substance. It’s the fourth prequel novel to the — what? — six Dune novels. The prequels were all written by Brian Herbert, Frank Herbert’s son, and Kevin J. Anderson. Frankly, I don’t like them that much. There’s something too conventional about them that doesn’t get me excited. But I do have to read them because Dune and God Emperor of Dune were my all-time favorite sci-fi novels (even without the sci-fi adjective). Still, they’re worth reading if you really dig the Dune books, but more for curiosity than excitement. Then again, maybe I don’t enjoy them as much simply because, after all, the Golden Age of science fiction is 16.
