California to Criminalize Videos Exposing Planned Parenthood

The videos from Center for Medical Progress drew blood against Planned Parenthood, not only because it exposed its charging for “expenses” (not really) incurred in rending fetuses during abortions and sending parts to researchers, but because of the cold, crass attitude PP executives had about their dark calling.

That could not be allowed to stand! A Democrat Texas DA indicted pro-life activist David Daleiden for felonies, later dismissed as lacking merit. California’s Attorney General raided his home and seized his computers.

Proving the truth hurts, California is on the verge of explicitly criminalizing such exposes. From the Sacramento Bee story:

While it is already illegal in California to record a private conversation without the consent of all parties involved, Assembly Bill 1671 would create an additional crime if someone who makes such a recording of a health care provider distribute that recording as well.

Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, the bill’s sponsor, and other supporters argued that greater penalties were necessary to deter groups like the Irvine-based Center for Medical Progress, which sparked a national outcry last summer by releasing undercover videos that it claimed showed Planned Parenthood officials selling aborted fetuses. The organization countered that the recordings were heavily edited, and had led to an uptick of violence against their clinics.

Heavily edited? Please. The Center concurrently posted the videos in their entirety so the veracity of what their edited videos could be verified.

It is telling that when animal rights activists use false pretenses to gain access to animal industry workings and video what transpires–sometimes outrageously editing to make it appear that an anomalous wrong action against an animal is systemic–they are often cheered by the same types passing this bill.

But expose the cruelty of Planned Parenthood and you will be made to pay!
