Camp Hopes for Tax Reform

Rep. Dave Camp (R., Mich.), the chairman of the Ways and Means committee, tells NRO that he would like to see the president address tax reform later tonight.

“I hope he makes a commitment to fundamental tax reform and has a path forward on the pending trade agreements,” Camp says. “Those are two key items.”

“The president has made some public comments about (tax reform),” Camp says. “He has expressed interest in working on that issue, so I’m hopeful.”

On Obamacare, Camp predicts that the president will be quite mum. “My sense is that he’ll be pretty general,” he says.

Maybe, NRO replies, Obama is nervous about roiling House Republicans.

“I hope so,” Camp laughs.
