Can We Break 100 Grand? With Your Help, Yes

National Review founder William F. Buckley Jr. (National Review)

Our ongoing webathon — in which we highlight the importance of NR’s reporting compared with the see-nothing, ideology-driven COVID “journalism” of the major media — now seeks to reach, and maybe even pass, a new goal of $100,000 by the end of the day this coming Monday. So far, nearly 600 generous people have contributed over $68,000 to this effort. We believe that another 300 or so acts of selfless support should do the trick and get us across the (new) finish line. If you are thinking of being one of these supporters, maybe these ensuing words, from those who have already given, will prove the dash of inspiration you need to support NR’s fearless journalism:

Jack drops $200 in the basket. He takes no prisoners: “Truth to Power. A catchphrase for the woke-know-better generation; what utter nonsense. How about ‘the Truth?’ Thank you, NR for telling us the Truth! Keep up the great work!”

Christian finds a $100 bill and attaches it to these words: “I am ever impressed by your refusal to bend principles to fit the emotions of the moment, no matter how expedient. I see that as much in your calling-out Republicans who stray from conservative principles and common decency as in your calling out the Left. Keep up the great work.”

Susan sends along a Fifty and this: “Great reporting, Jim Geraghty. You scooped every other major media outlet, and deserve recognition for your work, investigation, and skillful writing.”

Michael also sends a Fifty, and also adds a back-slap for the author of the Morning Jolt: “Jim Geraghty should win a Pulitzer Prize (or at least some media accolade) for his reporting on the Wuhan coronavirus. But I know that will never happen. This contribution will have to do. I’ve been reading his Jolt email for a couple of years now and look forward to reading it every day.”

Peter thirds the motion with a most-impressive $1,000 gift, and cuts to the chase: “Geraghty is outstanding!”

William sends NR $20, and more kudos to Jim: “Geraghty has been an exceptional source of honest information over the past year. He is joined by other similarly hard-working journalists providing a truthful and honest source of news and commentary. Essential!”

And then there is Debbie, who donates $100, and encouragement: “Keep up the great work. I’m new to NR and joined NR+ recently. Love that you all seem like men and women of integrity, which sadly is a rare thing in journalism these days.”

NR is more than just trusted journalism. NR is a cause. And your contribution to that cause ensures that NR will remain a meaningful and consequential voice of sanity, a source of reliable and honest reporting.

While the American media worked tirelessly to suppress the truth, NR was fearlessly declaring it, knowing that we are able to do so because people — we hope you — go a bit above and beyond and support us in the relentless fight. Would you please be one of the additional 300 or so people who will hit the DONATE button? You’ll find it here. If you prefer to send a check, please make it payable to “National Review” and send it to National Review, ATTN: Webathon, 19 West 44th Street, Suite 1701, New York, N.Y., 10036. Do this knowing you have our utmost appreciation . . . and that National Review remains strong — and consequential! — thanks to you and other members of the larger NR Nation.

Members of the National Review editorial and operational teams are included under the umbrella “NR Staff.”
