I don’t know what everyone was so worried about. Everyone was very nice and respectful. The audience seemed to like it. I got a lot of nice email and comments. Oh, and I should thank especially the NRO readers who drove from various locales in the state to come by. It’s always gratifying to have some ringers in the audience. But all in all it wasn’t a very — or even remotely — hostile crowd. I kept hearing all these stories about how this or that conservative speaker got roughed up in the past. I had a fine time.
It’s a very nice looking (and expensive) school with what seem to be sharp students (but much crunchiness abounds) and the town of Northfield from what I saw epitomizes cute midwestern college town. All and all a very positive experience. Though I wish there could have been one of the usual post-talk “seminars” at a local tavern.
