Caroline Kennedy?

Eric Holder is predictable. Jim Johnson is problematic. But Caroline Kennedy? A black appointee, an insider/fixer and the window dressing/camelot heiress/political dilettante. Sounds like the punchline to a bad joke. Ms. Kennedy does, of course, lend class and pedigree to the committee. But in what way is she qualified to help select a vice-presidential candidate? Does the fact that she is female, and was an early endorser of Obama, and maybe the Kennedy who pushed the rest of the family away from Hillary, qualify her? Was she a big donor? Or is it just that she is a female, with a good education, who can be used as a cover when they don’t choose Hillary? And if a female was needed, since politics is 50 plus percent showmanship, surely there are elected Democratic officials who have more serious qualifications. What about those midwesterners like Claire McCaskill and Kathleen Sibelius who have been strong Obama defenders? They have real jobs. Or has Hillary’s ascent confused Obama into believing that being the daughter of a dead Democratic icon is as good a qualification as being the elected governor of a state?
