Fois Quits ‘War Room,’ Cites Split With McCue

After less than four months as staff director for the Senate Democrats’ communications “war room,” Andy Fois quit in a huff Thursday night, citing an unworkable relationship with Minority Leader Harry Reid’s (Nev.) chief of staff, Susan McCue.

 

Fois, the highly touted former Clinton administration official who started his post March 13, made his unexpected resignation very public in a staffwide e-mail, in which he accused Reid’s longtime aide McCue of making his job intolerable. Fois’ missive prompted Reid’s deputy chief of staff, Gary Myrick, to respond in an e-mail of his own, calling Fois’ actions “inaccurate and unprofessional.”

 

“It is not possible to do this extremely demanding job without the full support and confidence of the chief of staff,” Fois wrote to the Reid staff. “While I deeply regret this turn of events, I believe it is in everyone’s best interests….
