Catching Up on Legalization

I just received an e-mail from the publicist over at The Nation announcing that the magazine has a new special issue devoted to a single subject: “for the first time ever officially endorsing national marijuana legalization.”

Our own magazine’s beloved founder, William F. Buckley Jr., left us in 2008, some three decades after he first called for the legalization of pot. In his absence, allow me to welcome The Nation to the ranks of us progressives; and let me modestly suggest that the next question they should reexamine is whether socialism really does help poor people as much as the free market does.
