CBS Crazy Enough to Reject Patriotic Ad

CBS rejected the pro-flag, anti-Kaepernick “Just Stand” Super Bowl ad produced by our pals at Nine Line Apparel, the relentlessly patriotic clothing-and-more outfit founded by Daniel Merritt (his brother Tyler is the CEO). Various reports state that CBS based the rejection on the belief that the company, which claims $25 million in annual sales, would not be able to pay for the spot.

I interviewed Dan — who as a kid was a neighbor and friend of one William F. Buckley Jr. in Stamford, Conn. (all Buckley sailing lovers will remember how the Merritt Boys’ dad Danny was part of the crew for many a WFB ocean-crossing) — about Nine Line for NRO in 2013.
