Celebrating Intolerance

Yesterday I was read the “Parade” magazine-let that comes with my Sunday New York Post (and half the other Sunday newspapers in the country). It has a wee passage about Ben Franklin (page 10). There is an interview with Walter Isaacson, author of Benjamin Franklin: An American Life.

Mr. Isaacson lauds Franklin as a model of tolerance. He adds: “Today, we celebrate intolerance in cable TV and in our politics. Someone who came along to preach and practice tolerance would be a hero.”

Would any colleague or reader care to go out on a limb with a guess as to which political party Mr. Isaacson favors?
