Charles Barkley Backs John Kasich (for Now)

The Ohio governor has the former NBA star’s support . . . at least until Elizabeth Warren or Julian Castro jump into the race. The Hill reports:

“Right now, I like John Kasich, the governor of Ohio,” Barkley said on ESPN Radio’s “Mike & Mike” on Wednesday. “He’s the only person that I’m really paying attention to right now, to be honest with you.”

“I want to vote Democratic, because I think they … are more open-minded,” Barkley continued. “But right now, if I had to vote today, I would probably vote for John Kasich — but I haven’t made a decision.”

Of the potential Democratic nominees, Barkley did not list former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton or Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) among his favorites, instead referencing Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julian Castro as “the only two Democrats that I would vote for.”

Barkley, who is also a host on TNT’s “Inside the NBA,” told Sports Illustrated earlier this year that he also liked former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
