I live in the western suburbs, and I hope like heck we don’t get it. Mayor Daley just wants them to feather his mayoral cap and enrich all his friends who have bought land on or near prospective Olympic sites. Plus, it’ll completely ruin my already long commute for at least two weeks. As one Cornerite (I forget who) said, the Olympics are really held on TV anyway.
OTOH, some of my co-workers who live in the city are really looking forward to renting out their condos for ridiculous sums for the duration, so I guess it’s not all bad.
