Chipotle Withdraws Boy Scouts Sponsorship

Chipotle Mexican Grill has pulled its sponsorship of a Boy Scouts of America event in Utah because of the organization’s policy of not granting membership to “open or avowed homosexuals.” Though it was set to provide more than $4,000 worth of coupons to the Scout-O-Rama fundraiser this May, Chipotle backed out because of its policy to not support organizations that exclude people based on sexual orientation. Chipotle had sponsored Scout-O-Ramas in the past.

Earlier this year, the Boy Scouts proposed lifting the ban and allowing local troops to decide their policy. The organization has postponed a decision on the proposal until May.
