The Choice in Iraq

An e-mail from a former student of mine who is applying for a Fulbright.  The U.S. choice seems to be to secure Baghdad, surging into those areas still mixed, or to drawdown to the borders or elsewhere, in effect blessing ethnic cleansing:

Subject: Fwd: FLTA

Dear Dr.Michael,

  As you see , I may be interviewed by the  FLTA board, but  if the interview is  in Baghdad , I will not go .I will request from them to be interviewed in [REDACTED] or [REDACTED] otherwise I will not risk my life to travel to Baghdad because Mahdi Army  kills Kurds.
