Christie Rules Out Running with No Labels

Well that was a quick turnaround. In a podcast interview last week, former New Jersey governor Chris Christie publicly flirted with running on the No Labels ticket in 2024, but the former 2024 GOP presidential candidate confirmed today that he has decided against running on the third-party ticket in November.

“I appreciate the encouragement I’ve gotten to pursue a third-party candidacy,” Christie said in a statement to the Washington Post. “While I believe this is a conversation that needs to be had with the American people, I also believe that if there is not a pathway to win, and if my candidacy in any way, shape, or form would help Donald Trump become president again, then it is not the way forward.”

Christie is only the latest high-profile politician to rule out running on the No Labels ticket. A number of other politicians — former South Carolina governor and 2024 presidential candidate Nikki Haley, former Georgia lieutenant governor Geoff Duncan, and Democratic senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia — have also decided against joining the group’s presidential ticket.
