Hey, This Is Santa! We Got a Fund Appeal Going On

Last week in these precincts, NR Institute launched its end-of-year Fund Appeal (see the wise pleas from Brother Brookhiser, Comrade Salam, Up-n-Comer Kupfer) seeking to raise ample bucks (to be precise: $200,000) to support the mission, programs, and good works of the non-profit charity that just happens to own NR (the magazine and website) but that more importantly is a hot-as-heck journalism think tank that is home to an amazing amalgam of fellows who are the Murderer’s Row of conservative writers.

As a Yankees fan, I don’t use that comparison lightly.

Hey, there are kids starving in the world, so I won’t make claims about NRI being the most important charitable contribution you could consider. There’s no heartstring-tugging case to make. But . . . let’s face this: It’s because of exceptional conservative propagation of key ideas, like free markets — ideas ignited in the pages of NR and for decades relentlessly expounded by NR writers over the years — that there are a hell of a lot less people living impoverished lives.

Ideas have consequences. Good ones! And NRI’s fellows in toto are the best gathering of conservative writers and argument-makers and ideas-promulgators you will find anywhere on God’s good earth.

Is there a strong case to be made for making a contribution to NRI? Oh boy, is there ever. And how about . . . for you making a contribution? I hope so, I know so, because, except for the tightest of wads, putting your money where your principles are is important to every conservative man and woman.

We need to raise $200,000. Your contribution is tax deductible. Give to NRI’s end-of-year Fund Appeal here. You can also mail a check (made payable to “National Review Institute”) to NRI, ATTN: 2018 Fund Appeal, at 19 West 44th Street,, Suite 1701, New York, NY 10036. Many thanks.

Oh yeah: What’s with the vintage-y Santa picture attending this post? Fair question. The answer is simple: Christmas is coming and I like Santa. And you had best too. He’s been a charter subscriber since 1995. Get on his Nice List. Your NRI contribution will ensure that.
