Clarifications All Around

Amid the items in Impromptus today is one on Mohamed Morsi, the president of Egypt. He called on people to “nurse our children and our grandchildren on hatred” — of the Jews and Israel. For years, I and others have been saying that hatred is the “mother’s milk” of too many Arabs. And here is the leader of the most important Arab state saying, “Nurse! Nurse!”

Anyway, a reader of ours has quoted the presidential spokesman — the U.S. presidential spokesman — Jay Carney: “We believe that President Morsi should make clear that he respects people of all faiths and that this type of rhetoric is unacceptable in a democratic Egypt.”

Our reader says, “While we’re at it, can we demand that Castro clarify that he’s not a dictator”?
