You know Jonah, I think you are overestimating the ideological feminists (female and male) to suggest that they knew underneath that women might abandon the Dem ticket because they were impressed to see a real woman on the GOP ticket. I think those people believe their own “narrative,” and don’t know a lot of people in a different social or educational class than their own.
Plus, the average age of real, Steinem/Friedan feminists is about 75. Hillary is in her 60s and she is much younger than most Democratic female Senators. Younger women don’t care about the definition of feminism that those women devised in the 1970s. I think this is a bigger shock to them than we get.
