Jefferson didn’t just win.  He won by a solid 57-43 margin , with 35,121 votes to fellow Democrat Karen Carter’s 26,985.  That said, Jefferson won far fewer votes in this lower-interest runoff than he did in past general election victories. In the mid-terms of 2002, he won with 90,310 votes, 64 percent of those cast.
