Plenty of Palestinians’ lives have been lost due to Hamas’s deliberate placement of weapons and headquarters in civilian areas and buildings, but Hillary Clinton thinks it’s partly just geography that’s causing the terrorist organization to do so.
“I’m not a military planner, but Hamas puts its missiles, its rockets in civilian areas,” Clinton said on Tuesday on Fusion. “Part of it is Gaza is pretty small and it’s densely populated. They put their command-and-control of Hamas military leaders in those civilian areas.”
Since the beginning of the Israel-Gaza conflict, stockpiles of weapons have been discovered in at least three United Nations Relief and Works Agency schools in Gaza, according to the Times of Israel. Several other incidents of Hamas rockets launched from civilian areas have been reported as well, while one of Hamas’s key command centers is built directly underneath a civilian hospital.
Clinton said she supports Israel’s right to self-defense and understands casualties are a part of any conflict. She called for a ceasefire as “quickly as possible.”
