The Corner

Closing Time

This is a little strange:

The Gerald R. Ford Museum in Grand Rapids is closing until further notice due to the former president’s death, but condolence books will be open for visitors in the museum’s vestibule, which is now open 24 hours a day.

It’s obviously a well-intentioned sign of respect, but wouldn’t it be better to open the museum and give it longer hours for the next week or so? Public interest probably won’t ever be greater than right now.

By the way, I’ve visited the Ford Museum and it’s a much better museum that you might assume. The folks who designed it and curated it, etc., did a great job.
