Cloward-Piven Redux

Frances Fox Piven has reportedly just issued a call in the Nation for an updated running of her infamous Cloward-Piven strategy. The original Cloward-Piven strategy was designed to “break the bank” of the American welfare system, thus forcing the adoption of a federally guaranteed annual income, and a giant leap toward American socialism. ACORN followed a variation of the same plan. I cover this ground in Radical-in-Chief. Now Piven is calling for the unemployed to launch disruptive demonstrations in the United States on the model of the recent disturbances in Greece and Britain. Piven’s new essay is under a subscription firewall, but Ron Radosh has the details.
