CMS Chief: High Traffic Caused the Healthcare.gov Crashes

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services administrator Marilyn Tavenner continued to cite traffic volume as one of the main reasons for the problems with the Healthcare.gov launch. “What we saw is more volume than we had anticipated, and we anticipated pretty high volume,” she told Senator Kay Hagan (D., N.C.).

She also revealed that she expected had “customary glitches” upon its rollout, but also was expecting ”a site that worked.”
