TV Anchor Says Second Amendment Saved Her Life

Television journalists are used to telling stories in pithy, easily understandable language. Perhaps that explains why former CNN news anchor Lynne Russell is able to so forcefully explain how the Second Amendment helped save her life and that of her husband from a dangerous armed felon.

Russell and her new husband, former CNN reporter Chuck de Caro, were driving across the country last month when they stopped at a motel in Albuquerque, N.M. for the night. Repeat felon Tomorio Walton accosted Russell as she opened the motel room door about 11:30 p.m. and dragged her back into the room demanding she surrender valuables.

What Wilson didn’t count on was that de Caro was in the shower and managed to jump out and shoot him dead while in the nude. De Caro was himself shot three times but is recovering from his injuries. “I was determined to save my dream girl’s life — even if it cost my own,” he told reporters from his hospital bed.

Russell told Fox News that she is “absolutely” convinced that having a gun saved both their lives:

“The discussion over the debate to own a gun is just ridiculous. As Americans we have the right to bear arms and as humans the right to protect ourselves. I’m sure that the man who shot my husband did not have a gun permit. Criminals will always have guns. The rest of us legally obtain our gun permits.”

Both Russell and de Caro are longtime supporters of the Second Amendment which states that Americans have the right to bear arms.

“If you don’t want to carry please don’t. Then, shut the f*** up about it. Make your own decisions,” she said bluntly.

Russell told Fox that the government should spend less time arguing about gun control and more time regulating those who can obtain guns. “If you committed a violent crime you can’t get a gun permit. Simple law,” she said.
