Cold Impersonal Forces . . . Feh

When I went to college, the idea that history was driven by large forces beyond our influence was very popular and the “Great Man” theory of history was very unpopular. Frankly, I don’t see how there can be any argument at this point. If Mike Ditka had run for the Senate, Barack Obama would not be a Nobel Peace Prize winner today.

I think it’s now time for some “I Blame Ditka” T-shirts and  “It’s Ditka’s Fault” bumper stickers.
