Great article on college conservatives. I graduated from college in 1997. At the time, I was an officer in College Democrats (while in law school, sometime in 98 or 99, I moved to the right).
The thing about what clothes conservative kids wear hit a real chord. One of my roomates in college bought his clothes from thrift stores. He had big bushy, unkempt hairdo (a white Afro almost). He smoked pot at least twice a day. He played guitar in a sorry-ass band and hung out with all of the “alternative” kids. He never would have been motivated enough to join the College Republicans but I’m sure he voted for Dole. He thought abortion was a bad idea and that Bill Clinton was a big, fat liar.
