The immigration bill may or may not be dead. Either way, here’s a call for an amendment that would make immigrants and their descendants ineligible for racial preferences. From an open letter: “We believe any legislation addressing immigration should make explicit that while immigrants and their descendants should be afforded the right to compete fairly and freely in every aspect of American life, they should receive no special benefit on the basis of race, ethnicity or national origin.” Signers include Linda Chavez, Roger Clegg, Ward Connerly, Jennifer Gratz, Heather Mac Donald, and Grover Norquist.
