Ramesh is quite right about Obama and the Fairness Doctrine. He has never said he would reject it if presented to him, and it likely will appear on his desk. But aside from the Fairness Doctrine, there are other ways to destroy talk radio, including one that Obama explicitly endorses — a local content rule issued by the FCC that would compel news/talk stations to air more local news and content. It would set up local committees, which would be controlled by ACORN-types, to give the impression of public input into programming. And he would reduce the life of a license from eight years to two years. This would be the backdoor way to kill nationally syndicated talk shows.
